Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the MDC Safari extension (the "Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Extension.

Description of Service

MDC is a Safari extension that converts web pages to Markdown format and copies the result to your clipboard. The Extension provides the following features:

  • One-click conversion of web page content to Markdown
  • Automatic clipboard copy of converted content
  • Customizable Markdown output formatting
  • Inclusion/exclusion options for images, links, and navigation elements
  • Support for various Markdown styles (headings, code blocks, lists)
Important: MDC is a free extension with no premium tiers, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

License

Grant of License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Download and install the Extension in Safari on devices you own or control
  • Use the Extension for personal purposes

Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

  • Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
  • Remove any copyright or proprietary notices from the Extension
  • Use the Extension for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Extension
  • Use the Extension in any way that could damage, disable, or impair Safari or the Extension
  • Sell, rent, lease, or sublicense the Extension
  • Use the Extension to scrape content in violation of website terms of service
  • Use automated systems or software to manipulate the Extension

User Responsibilities

Compliance with Third-Party Terms

When using MDC to convert web pages, you are responsible for:

  • Complying with the terms of service of websites you visit
  • Respecting copyright and intellectual property rights of content creators
  • Using converted content in accordance with applicable laws
  • Ensuring your use of converted content falls under fair use or you have appropriate permissions

Content Ownership

MDC does not claim any ownership over the content you convert. However:

  • The original content remains the property of its respective owners
  • Converting content does not transfer any rights to you
  • You are responsible for how you use converted content
  • Commercial use of converted content may require permission from content owners

Data and Privacy

MDC is designed with privacy as a core principle:

  • All processing happens locally on your device
  • No data is transmitted to external servers
  • No analytics or tracking is performed
  • Your preferences are stored locally in Safari

Intellectual Property

Our Content

The Extension and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by MDC and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Trademarks

The MDC name and logo are our trademarks. You may not use these trademarks without our prior written permission.

Open Source Components

MDC may include open source software components. These components are subject to their respective licenses, which take precedence over these Terms for those components.

Feedback

If you provide us with any feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Extension, you grant us the right to use such feedback without any obligation to you.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy or completeness of converted content
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Compatibility with all websites

We do not warrant that:

  • The Extension will meet your specific requirements
  • The Extension will be compatible with all web pages
  • Converted Markdown will perfectly represent the original content
  • The Extension will work with future Safari updates
  • All formatting will be preserved during conversion
Important: Markdown conversion is inherently imperfect. Complex layouts, dynamic content, and certain HTML elements may not convert accurately. The Extension is designed to handle common use cases but may not work optimally on all websites.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MDC, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
  • Damages arising from your use or inability to use the Extension
  • Damages resulting from inaccurate conversion of content
  • Any damages arising from third-party claims related to your use of converted content

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE EXTENSION, WHICH IS ZERO DOLLARS ($0) AS THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MDC and its developers from any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Extension
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including copyright or terms of service
  • Your violation of any applicable laws
  • Your use or distribution of converted content

Changes to the Extension

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the Extension at any time
  • Change features, functionality, or availability
  • Update the Extension for compatibility with new Safari versions
  • Remove features that become technically unfeasible

We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Extension.

Changes to Terms

We may revise and update these Terms from time to time at our sole discretion. We will notify you of changes by:

  • App Store update notes
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date

Your continued use of the Extension after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Termination

By You

You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from Safari.

By Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Extension immediately, without prior notice or liability, if:

  • You breach these Terms
  • We are required to do so by law
  • We decide to discontinue the Extension

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your license to use the Extension will immediately cease
  • You must uninstall the Extension
  • Your locally stored preferences will be deleted upon uninstallation

Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

Apple-Specific Terms

App Store Requirements

  • These Terms are between you and MDC, not Apple
  • Apple has no responsibility for the Extension or its content
  • Apple has no warranty obligation for the Extension
  • Apple is not responsible for maintenance or support
  • Apple is not liable for any claims related to the Extension

Third-Party Beneficiary

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MDC regarding the Extension and supersede all prior agreements.
